(JUNK FOOD)
When you hear the word junk... all things that come in mind are of no use i.e.waste products....not needed.And if I ask you to name junk foods... many of you will name... BURGER,PIZZA,PASTRY,NOODLES (especially 2 minutes)... and many more food items mainly made with white flour(maida as known in India) or sugar.
The question is WHY, yes a big why?
Answer from you might be it is unhealthy.It causes heart problems,diabetic,digestive problems and the list will go on... What about healthy foods...well any fruit or vegetable- any....yes any.WHY... because they are good for our health.
Now sit back and think......Is white flour or sugar really culprit or may be we are thinking all in the wrong direction.
Look these foods are not junk foods or for that matter any thing which is eatable,made with eatable ingredients and by any method of cooking are healthy.
Actually our mind has become junk and especially our digestive system.
HOLD- not due to these foods but by our wrong eating habits.
If now I say CAKE...what comes in your mind,the picture and lots of water in your mouth.You will smile and think of the flavour you love i.e. you feel good and your are happy.Your good hormones are produced, having good effect on your body.
If now I say BITTER GOURD( one of healthy foods)....you don't want to think about it,leave alone taste it,but you have to have it because labeled as healthy for your body.In your mind you are not feeling happy;you swallow;not much of good hormones are produced and so not much good effect on the body.
My point is that any food item taken at right time of the day,in right quantity and taking in consideration the weather conditions of the area and most important having food with peace of mind and a smile on face is HEALTHY.
What we have done is made our snacks or luxury foods as our main course food.We are taking them in large quantity and thus have effected our digestive system.SO we simply blame white flour and don't look at our mistake.
In earlier times,our parents and grand-parents used to make many TASTY eatable items with salt,white flour, sugar and pure ghee(desi ghee) and enjoyed them and they were also healthy.The khastas,samosas,namkins,different kinds of sweets........The reason was they worked hard, had food at proper time and without any tension.Most important they had them as snacks and not as the main meal.
Now days people have time for every thing but not for proper food.They are working round the clock....busy...busy....buy every and any thing but the most important thing i.e. ENERGY for their body ..... have no time for it.Buy pizza.burger,chips,rolls and all such food items which should be taken in small quantity and as snacks.....have become main meal.So definitely our digestive system will CRY.
In India people love to eat all types of cuisines and most popular according to me is Chinese.But after having it many people complain of indigestion.Now think of climate of china-COLD.....so they add lots of spices ......ginger ,garlic,chilly a few to name.....in their food in order to produce heat and be warm.But in India during winters the recipe may be fine but in summers,we don't need so many spices as it is already hot.Therefore it will definitely upset many stomachs.So next time don't blame any cuisine...think again about the main reason.Change your mind set and with that your digestive system and have food accordingly and be healthy and happy.
Now try to take one healthy food(as you say)..apple...take it all the time.....day in day out...two,three times a day.An apple(a day[limited quantity])which is supposed to keep you away from doctor,will take you to a doctor...because of constipation i.e your digestive system is not working. Or a bowl of spinach regularly for few days and add spinach to what ever you cook.......you will have........well try on your own risk and you will come to know.Even healthy food will become junk or unhealthy.Will you stop eating them....NO...
My point is never label any food or any ingredient as good or bad....but.have them in moderation.
When we visit a doctor...what is recommended....A healthy balanced diet ....yes and with the most important thing...EXERCISE.Take only healthy food and no exercise, the effect will be there but not as much as with exercise.
So to enjoy all kinds of tasty foods friends- just not sit in front of T.V. or computer,watch movies and always work in sitting position and nibble your food but we also have to move our body as it made that way. Encourage children to have snacks as snacks.Due to work load never change the snack as main meal ,even for yourself. It may be OK for once in a while but never make it a habit.Let kids enjoy their snacks and ask them to play outside ,of course you too just don't sit in front of computer or T.V.all the time.Body movement is MUST.
So remove all the junk-ness from your mind....just smile ,eat ,enjoy and listen......
