New year, new resolutions,new promises, but we all know how many of us keep and follow.Can we make a promise to ourselves?For our betterment.
These days lots and lots of incidences against girls are being heard from every corner of society.The reason for this is----in the minds of every member of a family especially NANI"S and DADI"S(GRANDPARENTS),YOUNG GIRLS(made to believe).or would be FATHER"S----is their love for RAJA BETA ,i.e.SON ,A GRANDSON. Pampering their thoughts, as soon as their child gets married is to have a baby boy.People may have started thinking of having girls or healthy baby but the % is very low.
The small baby boy, even a year old, with his little hands pulls hair or pony of his sister or any one for that matter,is greated with a smile- oh!.no,no,no,my darling ,so sweet,no,no,my pyaara beta(loving son).We sometimes even ignore these actions.If the elder sister cries, she is told--aarah,he is your brother,he is so small,you love him, do not bother,you are always crying. She is even scolded and asked to remain away from him.SO now a seed is planted in mind of the little boy that he is superior,thus gains confidence.Where as the little girls loses the same.This effects her future,her growth, in fact all aspects of her life.
You may say WHAT ?One year.NO, NO.But this is true.If a small child can understand our expressions,knows his taste for food,why can"t this.Think about it.When he grows a little older,he always tries to become powerful over his sister or even children around his house(especially girls).Being powerful does not mean beating other kids ,but to show he is superior and girls are less than him.HE IS A BOY.
It is not that we have to beat or scold the boys for these actions BUT just have to become firm and make him understand slowly and clearly that these actions are forbidden.He has to learn to RESPECT. And this can be done by you, only if you think in the same way . But the problem is that parents especially the grandparents are emotionally so much attached with the male grandchild that most of the time, any mistake big or small is ignored,thinking he is still young and can learn latter.Please there is always PRESENT and no latter(.Do not think to cut a bad tree but try to sow a healthy seed.)
So, PLEASE love your child,but be careful ,do not give importance to one and do not create the difference,which the child learns at a very early age.This can only be done if and if we first change our mind set and welcome the child with open arms irrespective of gender. Put the right SANSKAR(values) from the day you want a baby,i.e.change your attitude and thinking towards girls.
Sit,think,talk with your elders, friends,family. Give a thought.Take a vow to bring a change in yourself so to have a carefree, tension free ,loving life and society----not for females only but for yourself. Your peace of mind depends in your hands.
